Reporting a Foreigner's Residence in Thailand: Step by Step

The TM30 form is a mandatory document that property owners or hosts in Thailand must complete if they are accommodating a foreigner. This process is part of the immigration system and helps Thai authorities keep track of foreigners' movements within the country. The reporting obligation must be fulfilled within 24 hours of the foreigner's arrival at the residence.

The steps of this process are outlined below:

Some of the most popular Thai banks for foreign residents include Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank (SCB), and Kasikorn Bank, among others. Each bank has slightly different requirements for account opening, so it's recommended to consult with them in advance to understand their specific policies and document needs.

This is the official website of the Thai Immigration Office, where you can find the TM30 form, submit reports online, and access other immigration services and resources.

3. Uploading Property Ownership Documents

After creating your account, you'll need to upload documents that verify your property ownership or rental rights. These typically include the following documents:

  • copy of the title deed
  • copy of the rental agreement, if you are leasing the property

4. Registration Confirmation and Password Setup

After registering, you will receive an email with a link to confirm your registration. Click this link to complete the process and set your account password. You will also need to accept the system's terms and conditions.

5. Filling in Property Information

In the next step, you must enter details about your property where the foreigner will be accommodated:

  • Property address
  • Type of property and additional ownership details

6. Filling in Foreigner's Information

Next, enter the details of the person you are hosting. These details must match exactly with the information in the foreigner's passport and arrival card:

  • Full name (as in the passport).
  • Passport number.
  • Arrival card number (TM6*).
  • Foreigner's arrival date in Thailand.

The TM6 form is the arrival card that every foreigner completes upon entering Thailand. It contains important information, such as the name, passport number, and arrival date. This information is crucial for completing the TM30 form, as foreigners cannot be properly reported to Thai authorities without it. The TM6 card is attached to the passport upon arrival and should be kept throughout the stay, as it is also handed over when leaving Thailand.

7. Report Confirmation

After filling in all the details, submit the form. Upon submission, you will receive a confirmation slip (known as a "return slip"), which you should keep. This document may be required for future procedures, such as visa extensions or 90-day reporting.
